















Government of India offers concessional terms of credit to developing countries with the aim to generate goodwill, strengthen long term partnerships and share India's expertise in project planning, design and implementation in diverse areas of socio-economic development.
Under the Indian Development and Economic Assistance Scheme (IDEAS), the Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) extends concessional credit to partner countries aimed at sharing India’s development experience by way of infrastructure development, trade, capacity building and skills transfer.
Till date, Exim Bank has offered concessional credit aggregating USD 33.56 billion to 66 countries spanning across Africa, Asia, Latin America Oceania and the CIS region.
Exim Bank has extended a GOI-supported Line of Credit to the Government of Vietnam for supply of electromechanical equipment and technical services for 2 x 100 MW Nam Chien Hydropower Plant Project in Vietnam. The Hydropower project (with its 200 MW capacity) has helped in energising the Son La Province and contributed to the energy security of Vietnam.
Exim Bank has extended a GOI-supported Line of Credit to Guyana for development of a Cricket Stadium. Guyana hosted the Cricket World Cup 2007 at the newly constructed Providence Stadium. The LOC has facilitated the participation of the Indian business community in development cooperation and contributed to infrastructure development
Exim Bank has extended a GOI-supported Line of Credit to the Government of Niger for the Solar Electrification of 30 villages using Solar PV system and setting up of Solar PV plant (5 MW). The project has helped Niger to meet the electricity requirement of its rural population thereby empowering the socio-economic growth of rural areas.
Exim Bank has extended a GOI-supported Line of Credit to the Government of Nepal. The Modi-Lekhnath project involves construction of a 42 km long Power transmission line and is envisaged to improve the power supply in the Dhaulagiri zone by evacuating power from the hydropower plants in the Modi River Basin.
Exim Bank has extended a GOI-supported Line of Credit to SBM [Mauritius] Infrastructure Development Co Ltd, a nominated agency of Government of Mauritius for Financing various Infrastructural Projects. The Metro Express Project is a dual track, standard gauge Light Rail Transit (LRT) system between Port Louis and Curepipe is envisaged to reduce the carbon emission in the island Country.
Exim Bank has extended a GOI-supported Line of Credit to the Government of Republic of Rwanda for financing the 28 MW Nyabarongo Hydroelectric Project. The project has helped to increase the electrical capacity of Rwanda’s national grid from 110 MW to 160 MW. The project is one of Rwanda’s biggest hydroelectric power plant contributing 12.8% of the national installed capacity, supplying 25% of total electricity demand.
Exim Bank has extended a GOI-supported Line of Credit to the Government of Suriname for purchase of Chetak helicopters. The maintenance and training of pilots & crew is provided by India. The induction of helicopters has helped Suriname Air Force to increase its capability to undertake search & rescue missions as well as border patrolling and also used for emergency medical services.
Exim Bank has extended a GOI-supported Line of Credit to the Government of Mauritius for supply of Fast Interceptor Vessels. The vessels have been extensively deployed for coastal patrols and maritime surveillance, which has ensured reduction in maritime crimes, illegal fishing and drug trafficking activities through effective surveillance operations.
Exim Bank has extended a GOI-supported Line of Credit to the Government of Kenya for the Rift Valley Textile (RIVATEX) project. The project facilitated increase in RIVATEX’s competitiveness through increase in production capacity and exports, improvement in product quality and reduction in production cost. The revival of textile factory has benefitted approx. 2000 Kenyan youth.
Exim Bank has extended a GOI-supported Line of Credit to SBM (Mauritius) Infrastructure Development Company Ltd for investment in various infrastructure projects in Mauritius. Under the LOC, 13 Trailer Mounted Flood Pumps was supplied to the Mauritius Fire and Rescue Services. The flood pumps will help the island deal with flash floods in a timely and efficient manner.
Exim Bank has extended a GOI-supported Line of Credit to the Myanmar Foreign Trade Bank [MFTB], for financing Upgradation of Thanbayakan Petrochemical Complex. The project involved renovating process plant in order to produce higher yield of quality products such as high octane gasoline & aviation turbine fuel.
Exim Bank has extended a GOI-supported Line of Credit to Government of Mozambique for rural drinking water project. The project has increased rural water coverage of the respective provinces from 30% to 50%. Clean water sources have helped local community in combating water borne diseases such as cholera, chronic diarrhea and improved their standards in health, hygiene and sanitation.
The New E-tracking and Remote Administration (NETRA) platform has been developed with the objective of efficient management and monitoring of the LOC and Concessional Finance Projects extended by Export-Import Bank of India.
NETRA is developed to further enhance the speed of delivery of the LOCs by capturing project specific developments that offers need based access to key Indian stakeholders, including the Indian Missions abroad.
The platform will facilitate in the implementation cycle, project monitoring and reporting by providing all relevant information to the key Indian stakeholders in an automated environment. This active feedback mechanism will lead to further process improvement and asset quality monitoring.
